Nineteenth-century Britain was notable for many things – feats of engineering, significant developments in science and culture, the Industrial Revolution, and of course, stovepipe hats. But among all this ingenuity and showboating there was also a religious revolution going on abroad, led by a band of hardy men and women driven by the word of God.
